The ribbon-cutting ceremony began promptly, featuring Mr. Duffy, our principal, along with our assistant principals.
Members of The Student Council with the Task Panthers helped organize the art gallery, which included light snacks and refreshments. The artwork was curated by Mr. Sanchez and Ms. Colleary from our art department.
Classes had the opportunity to view the exhibition, and the ribbon cutting was broadcast live with collaboration of the Tech Department.. Students showcased their creativity by replicating techniques from various renowned African American artists, including Faith Ringgold, Alma Thomas, Lois Mailou Jones, and Sam Gilliam.
The hallways were beautifully decorated with portraits of influential Black leaders through the eras, adding to the educational and celebratory atmosphere of the event.
This exhibition not only highlighted the contributions of Black artists but also allowed our students to engage with rich cultural history in a fun and interactive way.
As we reflect on the significance of Black History Month, P177Q remains committed to celebrating diversity and fostering an inclusive environment. We encourage all students to continue exploring and appreciating the rich tapestry of Black culture and history. Together, let us honor the past while inspiring future generations to carry the torch of excellence and creativity forward.
