The copy center in Room 123 is a collaboration between the staff and students of Class V60. A box is left outside the door of the room where staff members of PS 177 leave folders containing materials they need to have copied. Prior to dropping off these folders, they have filled out a work order (which doubles as a receipt when they receive their completed orders) explaining which items they would like to have copied and how many copies they would like of each.
After the materials have been copied by a staff member, a designated period is used to have the students deliver the folders back to their classrooms. Students will go out independently, in a team of two or with a staff member depending on the functioning level of the student. They are asked which floor they are going to as well as signing the work order/receipt for accountability. During the delivery they are expected to be appropriate in the hallways and the rooms they are entering as well as remaining as such on the way back to the classroom. When handing over the folder, they will ask the receiving staff member to sign the work order/receipt so we know that it was received by the appropriate teacher or classroom. Upon returning to the classroom, they are asked how they did on their delivery as part of a self evaluation, and then given a card, accordingly, as part of a token economy. Later on, when they have accumulated a fair amount of cards, they can trade them in at the school store for prizes.
