Special Curriculum Programs
Culinary
The Culinary is an in-school worksite located at our main site. This in-school work site functions both as a business and as a classroom. Along with mathematics, reading and science, students learn to run a business. The Culinary sells breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks to staff at PS 177Q. The program is a good combination of vocational and academic activities.
Clerical / Copy Center

The copy center is a collaboration between the staff and selected students. Work orders are collected by students explaining which documents are to be copied and how many copies they would like of each.
After the materials have been copied, students deliver the folders back to their classrooms.

School Store
Work Sites

Treasures is our very own boutique which sells a unique variety of items. You can purchase items from beautiful accessories to stationary. Treasures is run by our own PS177 Students. This program is designed to develop work skills. Students purchase inventory, stock shelves, assist customers and work the register. All funds generated are used to keep the store running.
It is the mission of our school to have our students become as independent as possible as we prepare them for future life in the community. We provide a variety of different programs as well having our students actively participate in work site programs both in school and out in the community.
Our school also offers many workshops, parent support group and transition planning for all of our parent/guardians.
Horticulture
Woodshop
The aim of the Woodshop program is to develop pre-vocational and social skills that our students can use in real-life situations. We do this by working on and completing projects that get increasingly complex the longer the student is in the shop. Our goal for the future is to produce professional-quality projects that will be sold in our school store.

The Horticulture Program has become a meaningful and vital component of our students vocational experiences at PS 177Q. Our students are actively involved in all areas of the gardening process beginning with germination of seeds, planting and maintaining flowers, herbs and vegetables to harvesting and preparing healthy meals.
